For myself, re-reading is something that I have always done. I'm sure
I'm not alone when I say I get easily distracted when reading intriguing
books. The smallest of events can take my eyes away from the reading. I always
re-read just in case I might miss some information throughout the book.
Personally, I’m not the fastest reader in the world, but I’m not the slowest
either. I re-read sentences and paragraphs all the time to be honest so I can
gather all of the information. Re-reading is not just for the people that don’t
understand information the first time. Re-reading is for the people that want
to understand the information even more, or the people that just outright love
reading (which I suppose we should anyway), so they want to enjoy the book more
than just a one time read through. After reading How to Read Literature Like
A Professor, I learned more information on reading something a second time
around and how it can be beneficial in ways I have yet to discover. In the
Pre-Requisite reading this year, I have found myself reading more and more and
I am not sure if it is the length of the books or the vast amount of
distractions that summer has provided for me. When I was younger, I read all of
the Harry Potter book series and those books are quite vast and lengthy
so those books were where I began re-reading and I have done it ever since and
it seems that it has aided my reading and I suggest that people try it
sometimes and maybe the information will come across more clearly in the
future.

I find it really difficult to read most of the time because I’m so easily distracted with everything around me and have to constantly reread paragraphs (and even full pages sometimes). I am constantly rereading stories, whether it’s starting over the entire story or skimming pages again to make sure I understand what was said and meant. I’ve found that, like Foster said, the author often has a second meaning behind everything that’s said, and rereading often helps me find that meaning and further understand the story. (Ironically enough, the first book I found this in was the Harry Potter series as well.) I agree that rereading definitely makes the information in the story easier to understand.
I massively agree with you, Drew. Personally, re-reading in the past used to be a burden rather than a way to fully comprehend the text and the multiple meanings which are able to come from a small amount of text. Delving deeper into a piece of text which comes from re-reading seems like a simple task to achieve, and it is, though the reader is truly able to find and make connections between the text which may have been overlooked the first time it was read through. Through this simple act is the reader fully able to analyze and understand the text in its entirety.
